Taking Technology to the Congressional Black Caucus Annual Legislative Conference (CBC/ALC)

Historically, the Annual Legislative Conference has been a time for communities to gather, present shared issues, brainstorm resolutions and establish an action plan for the coming year. This year, CBC/ALC will make history by embracing technology and encouraging participants to do the same.

The panel will be held on September 25th, 2008 from 4:00-5:50 PM at the Walter E. Washington D.C. Convention Center in Washington, D.C. at 801 Mount Vernon Place, NW.

Great news for publishers. Google has fully integrated Feedburner as one of their services. Google Adsense has merged Feedburner into it's arsenal also. So, if you have been logging in to your Feedburner account by navigating to feedburner.com, you can now navigate to feedburner.google.com, instead.

More than 1000 entrepreneurs have received over $100 million dollars from this entity. Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Southeastern Pennsylvania will offer workshops for business owners over the next month.

The these workshops will be held Sept. 23 in Philadelphia Wednesday in Doylestown, Sept. 5 in Philadelphia, Sept. 11 in Malvern and Sept. 16 in Fort Washington,.

TECHNICALLY SPEAKING offers internships in most areas of the news. The internship is designed to provide individuals with opportunities to learn about broadcasting and the supporting areas of TECHNICALLY SPEAKING.

General Information

Interns are expected to work between 5 and 10 hours a week. Internships are offered year round. Internships are unpaid. All interns are subject to the applicable station rules. Candidates must be over 21 years old and have reliable transportation. Candidates must be enthusiastic, motivated, need minimal supervision and goal oriented.

General Intern Duties

Intern:
Does research for daily stories and long-term projects; books interviews; and helps get the show on the air, which includes performing routine administrative tasks. The intern attends a weekly editorial meeting. He/she should have an interest in technology, and be prepared to offer story ideas. A diverse tech background - preferred.

Shadows a Broadcast/Recording Technician to learn the operation of the record centrals and broadcast studios. Has the opportunity for hands-on practice on the technical equipment. Does simple feed recordings and mixes. Candidates with technical experience and/or background preferred.

Assists with event planning, scheduling, file maintenance, database management, research, and writing. Researches information, and writes articles for “TECHNICALLY SPEAKING”'s newsletter.

Sorts mail, answers phone, and participates in staff meetings and projects as required. Strong research skills, computer literacy, and knowledge of “TECHNICALLY SPEAKING” preferred.

Educational or work experience
in research, market research, research methodologies, broadcast, and/or other industries required. Experience using Excel, Word, Netscape, Access, Adobe Audition. Excellent writing, research, and organizational skills required.

Alltop site as a “digital magazine rack” of the Internet. To be clear, Alltop sites are starting points—they are not destinations per se. The bottom line is that we are trying to enhance your online reading by both displaying stories from the sites that you’re already visiting and helping you discover sites that you didn’t know existed. In other words, our goal is the “cessation of Internet stagnation” by providing “aggregation without aggravation.”

News: Google Adsense in Feedburner feeds

Until recently, when attempting to use Google Adsense for feeds, publishers experienced major disappointment. Originally, Feedburner was optimistic about this endeavor. However, for most Feedburner publishers the "FAN" option to monetize feeds simply did not work. Moreover, Feedburner announced that they were not quite certain when publishers would be able to insert ads into feeds. Illustration of Feedburner FAN page shown below:




But, Google has since taken matters into their own hands, developing an easy integration for feeds with their Adsense service.

Consider the current process “Beta”. Google has indicated that they will shortly make this migration process automatic so that the publisher can control the experience him-/herself via the Feedburner.Google.com domain. However, publishers may simply email, adsense-support-aff@google.com the following information:

• Your FeedBurner account username
• The Google Account email address you use to sign in to AdSense

And, they will help you set-up the account. But, please note that it is mandatory that you use your Google Account to use Adsense for your feeds.

After you have emailed the above information to Google, they will email you to outline the next steps for completing your feed migration.
