News: Sprint's Sponsorship Grant

The original Sprint logo was used from 1989 to...Image via Wikipedia
More and more companies are looking for opportunities to sponsor initiatives that are hosted by other companies. Sprint has a web based submission and proposal process. By going to http://proposals.sprint.com/, you can submit a proposal to have Sprint sponsor your initiative.

Sprint's online proposal system was created to make it convenient for individuals and companies to submit their initiatives for quick consideration and review. The steps for submitting your proposals to Sprint are simple. First, create a username and password (you will need an email address on order to do this).

After your account is created, you will be prompted for detailed information regarding your initiative. As will most online forms, you will be able to identify the more important fields by looking for an asterisk. You will also be given a chance to present attachments that are related to your proposal.

Subsequently, you will have a chance to preview the proposal prior to submission. This way, you can check to see if there are any changes you would like to make because once you have submitted your proposal, you will not have a chance to go back and make changes. Once you are certain you have included all relevant information, you may formally submit your proposal by clicking the "submit" button.

After you have submitted your proposal, you will notice that you are not in the "evaluation" You will have the opportunity to preview your proposal as it will appear to our team. Once you are ready to submit your As with all projects, it is important to plan ahead when presenting Sprint with a proposal. Allow 4 months for the proposal review process.

Facebook entices developers for a great cause....CASH!

Facebook, Inc.Image via WikipediaThe brave new world of social networking is always hungry for news of great innovative applications. As more and more entrepreneurs are turning to the net to stake their claims, "old school" social networking platforms such as Facebook are making it easier
for aspiring developers to learn from some more experienced developers, gain e-street cred, and earn cash.

Considering the fact that most developers create mash-ups and other apps for free (in between eating peanut butter & jelly sandwiches and watching Harry Potter marathons), this incentive is a real treat!

Let's be clear, however, the deadline for application submittal for this round of recipients is August 29, 2008. As you know, it isn't everyday that a tech grant just drops into your lap. So, why are you still reading this post....go apply!

Google Book Search on Technically Speaking Radio

Google Book Search: The First Stop for Independent Publishers

Marketing Ideas for Writers

Experienced authors know that the most difficult part about writing a book is getting it published and marketing it. Sometimes authors will abandon the idea of self-promotion. Other authors allow an agent or publisher to market their book. Many authors have no idea that Google Book Search is an option that is free and readily available to them.

During my interview with Ben Bunnell, Manager of Library Partnerships of Google Book Search

Ben Bunnell is the Manager of Library Partnerships for Google Book Search. In this role, he works with libraries in an operational capacity to get them started with the project to digitize books from their collections. Prior to this, Bunnell worked for two years at a venture capital firm as a business research librarian. He holds a Masters degree in library science and an MBA from the University of Michigan.

What is Google Book Search?

Google’s project to digitize all the books in the world. Google will allow these books to be indexed so that everyone can find them.

How does Google Book Search work?

Where do the books come from?

How do you get the books into the index?

Who is using Google Book Search and how are they using it?

Can I download books – can I read the entire book?

What are the technical challenges that you've encountered?

How long will the project take to complete?
